I made a series of matching mosaic stepping stones featuring flowering trees. Today I'm sharing the third tree in the series, my pink blossoms tree. While a flowering tree's spring flowers last for a week or so, this tree's flowers stay in bloom year round.

In mosaic tree #3 I used pink floral mosaic pieces for the flowers. Pink floral china patterns are a favorite of mine, and I was able to reuse multiple tea saucers without matching teacups.
I tried to add dimension to this tree by using more dark florals in the bottom half of the tree (to mimic more shadowing on the lower part of the tree), but I think that effect turned out too subtle to be noticed.

This tree (#3) has brown branches showing, which is the improvement I tried in tree #2, but the brown branches don't stand out as much here as they do in the more pastel tree #2. Still, I like the result, and this is possibly my favorite in the series.
(Maybe it's like children, can you say you have a favorite?)
Each of the stepping stone's in the series are 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter. Below is tree #2 in the series, (post here).

Mosaic Notes:
Mosiac work using broken china is sometimes called Pique Assiette, or picassiette. It's my favorite style, and the one I work in the most.
You can see all of my mosaic posts by clicking here.
Here is a nice getting started tutorial on creating mosaics
using china - at Apple Street Cottage.

Oh, wow! Those florals absolutely make this piece. What a work of art! Visiting from the Wednesdays in the Studio link party.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteYour mosaics are outstanding. I was playing canasta with some neighbors the other day and shared your posts, when one of the ladies said she loved mosaics. They were all blown away! Also, I just peeked at your floral mirror. Now I want to make one, too!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow totally gorgeous...I got three totes of busted stuff for mosaic, and yet I never get around to it. We are laying a new patio this year, I think I wll have to work on a few bricks over the winter...and I love your idea of trees! Thanks for the nudge to do something, Sandi
ReplyDeleteI love, love, your mosaic tree stepping stones. I am a sucker for flowers and the stones grabbed me immediately.
ReplyDeleteLove this mosaic, very pretty indeed! Visiting from Stephanie's where we're sitting together.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Jennifer
Another stunning tree, Jeanne! Thank you so much for sharing my link - always appreciated!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That is beautiful, the pink is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThese mosaics are stunning! You might have just inspired one of my next pieces of art. This week's prompt is "mosaic"! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat abeautiful design! You are so creative. I love using plaques like this in my garden to fill in spots.
ReplyDeleteThe colors came together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite is #3 with all those gorgeous pinks! I always enjoy seeing the creativity of other people.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, and yes, like children, I could not pick a favorite.
ReplyDeleteYour trees are beautiful. You can have a favorite stepping stone 1, favorite stepping stone 2 and a favorite stepping stone 3 😂
ReplyDeleteAll the best.
Debra @ Life Captured
Fabulous piece!!! Thanks for sharing at Funtastic Friday.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! I think this one may actually be my favorite for the colors.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! Thank you for linking up.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty and I'm sure they are quite a skill to do. Thank you fro sharing with #pocolo
ReplyDeleteWow! How very pretty. I would love something like this in my garden. :) #MMBC
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning, what works of art you are creating.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, love the tree with those lovely colors. I am happy to feature your flowering mosaic at Love Your Creativity.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS! Featuring when my link party opens.
ReplyDeleteI love this! So pretty and creative 💕
ReplyDeleteJeanne, these mosaic tiles are STUNNING!!! I made birdhouses for the ladies in my last tea group (around 2010) with broken bits of china mortared onto the roofs as a hostess gift (in reverse) for a tea I gave. They turned out great and looked lovely! I still have mine. ;) But I have a ton more broken pieces and always thought I'd make a table top for the backyard... Now I am thinking stepping stones would be fun! Thanks for the tutorial and idea. <3 So happy I could share your post at this week's Share Your Style #509 for you.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and enjoy those tiles... Btw, where did you find the "tree trunk" parts?? That's be all I'd be missing.
Hugs,
Barb :)
