Amazing Sight in New York City - Dogs!

New York City has many great sights, but here is one I hadn't read about in guide books.  I've heard of people being paid to walk dogs, but what I pictured when I hear the term "dog walker" certainly wasn't this!

New York's inspiring dog walking entrepreneurs must be nearly dog whisperers as well - they somehow manage to walk all these large ( and small) dogs simultaneously.  This is something I've not seen before.  And it's definitely not something I would care to attempt!

Here is a different group of dogs patiently waiting for their walker, quietly behaving.  (Maybe the dog walker is fetching or dropping off another dog?) I carefully walked past this pack of 12 dogs, not wanting to cause any of the dogs to start to bark.  (yes, there are 12, but I didn't try to get them to pose)  WOW, these New York dogs were calm and well behaved!

I'm not the only person amazed at this sight.  Other people stopped to take photos also.  And here is something else that impressed me - I didn't see dog droppings anywhere while I was in New York, which is just nice.  (OK, I know that they must happen, but I did a lot of walking and dog droppings were not a problem I encountered)

What do you think - Is this sight unusual to you? (or do I just need to travel more?)  Let me know if this is something you've seen in other cities, and where.

I call this photo 'Puppy Love'.

It has a friend's two month old puppy (part bishon, part teddy bear) laying on a heart quilt I made
. This photo was taken in early 2009.

I sell this photo as a card in my

I Heart Faces No. 4 - Sweet Dreams

Anthony asleep with the Dog of his Dreams.

This photo was taken on Dec 16, 2004, the first day when we got our 1st and only dog. My son Anthony, pictured, was then 8 years old and had practiced the piano 300 times to earn the dog. The dog was earned in Fall. On Christmas day the four children (ages 10, 8, 6, and 5 at the time) opened about 28 packages of dog items, and a stuffed dog that fit into the dog crate, etc. They didn't guess what was up, but enjoyed Christmas day with their toys. The next day was super cold. I asked the children - who is up for an adventure. Two of the four, Miranda and Anthony came with me, not having any idea where we were going. We picked up our new puppy the day after Christmas, and Anthony carried him home inside his coat because of the cold. We have great videos of the children playing with the new dog, and Anthony fell asleep with the tired puppy on the hard floor.

For the first several months we worried the children would squash the dog. But Sparky fit in and thrived.

The I Heart Faces challenge is featuring photos of people sleeping this week.

Etsy Store Update

Here is just a quick update: On my Etsy store, www.jselep.etsy.com, I now have over 70 products for sale. (I added the 70th today!) I have had 8 sales, to great friends and 3 to people I have never met. I've even had a sale to Canada. It's fun to see what people like, and I have to admit I check to see if I had a sale each day. It's silly how much of a kick I get out of a sale of a card - But it's like a validation of my design and photography...

I've been having too much fun making valentines cards. I have to start focusing on birthday cards. Birthday cards have no deadline. I am still thinking of new Valentine's cards (for next year, I say) I want to make. There are only 9 days left to Valentine's day! This photo with a friend's puppy is the last Valentine's card I'm going to make for the year, and was one of the ones I posted on my etsy site today.
