Autumn Hutch

Autumn Fall Hutch by Jeanne Selep
Image 1: Autumn hutch arrangement

When autumn arrives each year at my house, a new autumn hutch display follows.  Autumn's palette of colors are more subdued than my normal arrangements, and often consist of mostly brown transfer ware and some Bavarian plates.  Over time I have been picking china and glass items to expand my options, and now my autumn hutch is more colorful.

The hutch (a Welch dresser) allows me to showcase cherished finds like these above.  The mugs above, for example, are antique Villeroy and Boch.

Vintage Antique Pear Plate
Image 3: Vintage Pear Plate, 10 inches

I love this vintage pear plate.  I believe it's a turn of the century or early 1900's art design.  I like the artist's decision to include subtle shadows of the branches and leaves on the white section.  I consider it innovative design from around 100 years ago.

Behind the pear plate in the hutch is an extravagant platter that has an incredible border with thick raised gold edging, an inner border of poppies, and elaborate thin gold filigree line work over the poppies.  Is this border a little over the top or a lot?  I love it's exuberant detail.

Willams Sonoma Apple Plates

I often mix contemporary, vintage, and antiques pieces in my hutch arrangements, and I was happy to find ten contemporary Williams Sonoma apple plates (in 4 different designs) at a resale shop. I love the "botanical drawing" style on the apple plates.

Someone's collection of nine different amber stemmed and footed goblets became mine when I bought them at an estate sale. A lucky find to brighten up the color in the hutch!

[I had fun trying to identify the patterns -
From left to right:
1. LE Smith Stars and Moon pattern goblet;
2. LG Wright Wildflower pattern goblet;
3. Madonna Inn Wild Rose pattern goblet;
4. Diamond point ribbed pattern goblet;
5. Unknown;
6. Westmoreland Paneled Grape pattern goblet]

Image 8: Meissen plate from Germany

The German Meissen plate above has oak leaves and acorns trimmed with gold - definitely one of my favorites plates in my collection! It's also a fall plate.  Acorns appear in fall and are all over my driveway!

I hope you enjoyed my fall hutch.  I look forward to looking at other fall decor posts.   I hope you have a great fall season - summer here went by too quickly!

Welcome to T Stands For Tuesday. I adore your Hutch collection. I was quite impressed. I love that you had both mugs and goblets, along with your amazing autumn plate collection. This is a fabulous entry for T and I hope you will join us in the future. BTW, I also love the other hutch collections. My favorites are July 4th, I think.
