This Japanese Wisteria bonsai tree was in bloom at the Chicago Botanic Garden when I went there on May 3, 2010.
This is what it looked like on April 29, 2010, 3 days earlier.
I didn't expect to see it blooming, but I got lucky when my husband agreed to go with me on May 3, 2010. I love it!
The Chicago Botanic Garden has one of the largest public collections of Bonsai trees in the United States. They have over 180 trees, and they rotate displaying the trees outside, featuring the trees when they are the most beautiful. I guess I will have to go back in fall! They had probably more then 25 trees displayed outside on the days I was there.

I love bonsai trees but can never seem to keep one alive!
Best wishes and Happy Outdoor Wednesday,
Natasha.
That's quite a change in 3 days. Beautiful!
What a gorgeous Bonsai tree. Lucky you to be in the right place at the right time. :)
So, so beautiful! Bonsais are so lovely, but I have never had the courage to buy one for myself.
That little plant is so cute. I have never seen one that small. Ours here are much larger, but the same pretty color.
What a gorgeous Bonsai tree!
oh how pretty. I never would have thought of wisteria as a bonsai plant
I've never seen a blooming bonsai before. It's gorgeous!
Good Morning, Jeanne! The Japanese Wisteria bonsai is amazing! My next-door neighbor has had bonsai since we all moved onto the street 26 years ago. He asks me to water them when they are on vacation. He would love to see this, I'm sure.
It is hard to tell the size of this tree especially with the little one next to it. About how tall is the wisteria?
It is so nice stopping by to visit with you! Thank you for stopping by my place and leaving your comment!
Kindly, ldh
What a beautiful little tree. Loved seeing it in bloom.

That's amazing. I didn't even know there *was* such a thing as a wisteria bonsai. Gorgeous!
This is beautiful! I'd love to visit and see all these!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday- a day late! :-)
I am just getting around to visiting all the blogs.
Wonderful photo of the Wisteria, I've never seen one as a bonsai before.

How wonderful you were able to see it at it's peak of bloom!
I am responding to LDH. The little bonsai tree was UNDER 6 inches, maybe 3 or 4 inches at the most. The Wisteria bonsai was maybe 2, 2.5 feet high. I don't think it was anywhere near 3 feet high. The little tree was so outshown by the wisteria, I never even looked at what the little tree's name was.
So very nice to have you join us! Thanks!
You have a lovely blog -- hope to see more of you.
Claudia
