Collage Christmas Hutch

My "Collage Christmas Hutch" features an eclectic arrangement of some of my favorite Christmas china.  Collecting china at estate sales and resale venues, and displaying the collected pieces makes me smile remembering the thrill of the find and hopes for finding future treasures.

There is no overall china pattern featured in this hutch.  Together the china forms a collage of different styles themed "Christmas".  So perhaps the first set I show you should be a design that is actually a collage.

And what a collage on the face of these plates!  The Eiffel tower catches your eye, with botanical pine cones and mistletoe in gold; snowflakes and calligraphic swirls, and golden Joyeux Noel script and a Paris circle stamp.

Love at first sight...

[ 222 Fifth, PTS International, made these plates, pattern name Joyeux Noel, around 2012 to 2018.  I have two red desert plates (8.5 inch diameter) and two white dinner plates (11 inch diameter). ]

Tord Boonjte Christmas plate

The Danish artist Tord Boonjte designed the whimsical plate above.  I admired Tord's art long before I found these four plates at resale prices.  This design is a collage of a different sort.
Tord said this about design:

_____________________________________

"Modernism does not mean minimalism,
contemporary does not forsake tradition,
and technology does not mean abandon people and senses."

                                                -  Tord Boontje

The traditional silhouettes of snowflakes and flowers, animals and stars delights the eyes.  A very different collage than the Joyeus Noel plates, this contemporary style with traditional elements is not minimalistic, makes you smile, and yet is calming to the senses.

[ Tord Boonjte designed the "Christmas Day Studio Tord Boonjte" plates above for the Target department stores in 2006. ]

I think of my hutch arrangements as a collage created using porcelain!

Lenox's "Wintersong" Pattern, below, is possibly my favorite Holiday place setting that I own.  I was lucky to find two place settings at an estate sale.

The plates feature a contemporary botanical and bird painting style.  The red rimmed plate is large, though, 11.5 inches across and can only fits on the top shelf of my Welsh Dresser

Another Lenox plate from 1995 is "Winter greeting", above.  I have just one dinner plate of this pattern.

Setting up the Hutch can go fairly quickly.  I can only hope that setting up and decorating the Christmas tree will go as fast.

Enjoy the Christmas Holiday Season!

What a beautiful collection! A brilliant idea to collect plates from 'everywhere'. It gives you asn excuse to browse garage sales and thrift shops as well as going antiquing.
I love the Tord Boontje plates. Danish design is really my taste.
Thank you for joining T for Tuesday.

I don't have the room for collections like this in my small home, but I absolutely loved your hutch displays, especially the bird patterns.

Jeanne, your Welsh dresser Christmas plate collage is stunning!!!
Sooo happy to feature it this week at Share Your Style #481 for you. <3 I have eight of the Lenox Winter Greeting salad plates with their sweet cardinals and chickadees picking at the Christmas ribbons! Another year, I found the two matching teacups sans saucers, but that's it.

I would pick up beautiful plates, napkins, etc., the day after Christmas, and I still have that crazy, anticipatory feeling about wanting to go out the day-after to search for whatever might be out there, waiting, just for me! I need tableware like a hole in the head, lol! ;) I did get Hubby a set of four creamware cappuccino mugs from Williams-Sonoma and he was very pleased with them this morning! He immediately washed them all and there was just enough room in the coffee cupboard to stack them. ;) A Christmas present win! (He's really hard to buy for...)

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas today!
Warm Christmas hugs,
Barb :)
