Red, white, and blue vintage china arrangement |
For Memorial Day I arranged red, white and blue porcelain and glassware in my china cabinet. I will probably tweek this display until past the 4th of July.
(Even now I see a spot where I would add a small plate - the lower left corner - sigh...)
Closeup of China |
Currently, one of my favorite plate sets (that I actually use) is the Royal Cauldon plate (shown below). I used this plate multiple times in this hutch arrangement. I have eight dinner and eight bread plates.

What I love about this set is the curvey hand painted edging and the broad gilt edge. The individual plate doesn't jump out at you in the hutch, but holding a plate in your hand and seeing the micro dots and wavy lines is something else. And I marvel at the hand painting skill that the craftspeople had to have to paint each plate so consistently.

I got the Royal Cauldon plates at the end of a 3-4 day estate sale, during the bag sale portion. A bag sale is when there is so much left over stuff that they let you fill a bag for $5.00. My lucky day.

The Limoge France gold edged plate (below) has a beautiful gilt border with a relief design in the gilt. This plate didn't photograph particularily well - it's more beautiful then it looks here.

Another plate that is hard to photograph but that I really like is the Sakura plate (Galaxy pattern) shown below. This is a contemporary (Holiday?) plate set sold by Target in the last decade or so. I got a set of them at a rummage sale and I love them. But to get the gold stars to show as gold makes the navy blue plate want to photograph as black. It is also looking like the lip is curved, when really it is just the way the window light is lighting it. LOL. Aren't these blog posts an exercise in patience or what?

And I decided to confess - I bought the red and white plates and mugs at a recent estate sale just for arranging on my hutch. I could buy a bunch of flowers and enjoy them for a week, or enjoy these plates and mugs for years to come. I figured they would add some wow to my arrangement.
[The 5 mugs with the stars on the bottom are Fitz and Floyd porcelain]

How many ways to say gorgeous!!! I love those, especially the last one.
visiting today from Thursday's Favorite Things.
Oh, how I wish I had tons of space so I could be a dish junkie! You're really getting me in the mood for some puurdy tablescapes :).
Thanks so much for joining our blog hop today! We are so happy to have you!
Really lovely china cabinet arrangement! Love that this will go through 4th of July! Diann and I thank you for linking with TTF!
Linda
Fun to see how you change up your hutch for the different holidays. I'm always drawn to red, white, and blue, so I would have scooped up that set of Royal Cauldon plates. They are gorgeous! I've made a note of this pattern. It's so regal! Thanks for sharing.
Your collections of plates amaze me!
Wow. When my kitchen cabinet grows up to be a hutch, it wants to look just like yours! :O) Following from the Bloglovin' (etc) hop.
To borrow a phrase from my middle school students, OMG! Amazing, beautiful, creative - I am coveting your collection.
Your hutch looks fabulous!! I love seeing what you do for each season. I liked your comment about purchasing the dishes over the flowers because you can enjoy them time and time again!

Big hugs,

Jeanne, I want you to know that when Susan from BNOTP showed us your patriotic hutch, I made it my desktop computer's wallpaper...that's how much I loved it!
I have some of the Sakura plates & serving pieces too & have added them to my baker's rack. I'll show them closer to July 4th. Thanks so very much for the inspiration you've provided. This is just an awesome collection of multiple patterns & items.
fondly,
Rett
Wow!! Now that is a gorgeous collection of china pieces! LOVE the gilded edges of your fave and the limoges (oh my...that's awesome!), and I have a confession to make. I too collect and love china sets, so your purchasing a set JUST to go on the hutch to decorate with is RIGHT up my alley!! I'm so glad you joined me for my party and shared your gorgeous display!!
Blessings,
Doni

Love the patterns on these pieces of china - I would love to have an amazing collection like yours. I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy
What a wonderful collection of red, white and blue. To do a Memorial Day table, I had to go to TJ Maxx and WalMart to find something that would work. I was surprised to have nothing with which to create a theme!
Wow! I love your plates!
I love your hutch! And your patriotic theme is perfect. :)
