Spring Tulips

Pink Tulips by Jeanne Selep

Hello! April turned out to be a busy month.  It's the last day of April, and I had a hard time finding the time to blog.  So many distractions, some amazing, some not worthwhile!  If I want two posts this month (goals!), this last post of the month needs to be a quickie!

So today I'm sharing some lovely tulips that I arranged and played with a couple of years ago.  They were grown in my garden, and I had put enough cayenne pepper on them that the deer didn't eat them at my outdoor salad bar.  (This year most of my tulips were eaten because I didn't find the time to get out the cayenne pepper.)

(The rest of this post is a ramble, so feel free to skip it...)

---Since my tulip photos are now in this post, I can at least write a paragraph or two about what I accomplished in April.

I arranged and road tripped with my adult 20 something kids to see the April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse, (a 6 hour one way road trip), and had a lovely time in a beautiful park.  We celebrated two family birthdays.  I went to my Calligraphy club's spring clinic, and then dashed over to a wedding on the same day, both in town.  I went to the AQS Quilt Show (American Quilter's Society) in Paducah Kentucky, USA, a National show an 8 hour one way drive from home.  I worked with glass in a glass class (hot molten glass!).  I went to a garden club lecture, and woodland walk.  I went to multiple Milwaukee Film Festival films.  I have been organizing and processing photos from past vacations, (even printing them out!) and planning future vacations (that takes time.)  And there have been storms and power outs, plumbing issues and home improvements (of the furnace and A/C kind, nothing stunning to see but requiring time and money.)  The spring is making my yard go crazy and the yard needs work.  The start of spring sometimes looks a bit of a disaster.  My yard has THE MOST dandelions on the street, for example.  (Thankfully God fills the in the yard and trees and once you mow, the weeds aren't so prominent.)

Blogwise, I started multiple posts for April, but they were too time consuming in scope, even though I have good pictures.  Today (last day of April) I "pivoted" and attempted a quick mosaic post, taking photos of a past project.  But the end of the day lighting created photos that were too bright in the sun, and too weird in the shade, with the grass turning out almost black, and the colors all wrong and not matching.  I'll have to redo those photos.  Sigh.  Well, at least now I have posts started for May, which is tomorrow.  At least the grass in the photos above are a lovely spring green, taken on a day when I had time to play.

I hope you accomplish all your goals.  Enjoy spring!

Your photos are lovely... that is a great tip about the cayenne pepper though. We have lots of deer around our house and they often get to many of my plants.

Beautiful photo! It's OK to have the most dandelions in your yard, they're cheerful and pollinators like them. Weeds are just plants that don't ask for our permission.

So beautiful! And a roadtrip with 20-something age kids sounds fun (my kids are that age, too). Especially for the eclipse!! :) Visiting from the Crazy Little Lovebirds linkup.

I love your photos! Beautiful tulips. I always put cayenne pepper in my flowerbeds because of the deer. It sure does seem to help. Wonderful post and thank you for sharing with us at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party #36. 😊

I glanced at the pictures and wondered what the travel wlink was but you did travel around a LOT!! Hope you enjoyed your rambling (albeit in a car) -see what I did there? :) #TravelTuesday

I laughed at your issue with tulips. I often don't take the time to do everything I should do to have perfect success. I'm hoping that my tomatoes don't get eaten by animals before I get some chicken wire wrapped around them. Your tulips are beautiful, by the way. Thanks for linking this week. :)

Those are some gorgeous tulips. I'm in India where the temperatures are soaring - not too many flowers in sight at this time of year here.
