July Etsy Treasuries

I wanted to share two wonderful July 1009 Etsy treasuries that included products of mine. Treasuries are great fun to be in, because a "curator" I never met found and selected my artwork to be in their collection. You get a kind of thrill when you are included in a treasury. Both treasuries have expired by now. (Alas, treasuries only last 3 days...) The treasury "Teen Scene" was created by anuradesignstudios and featured my lollipops card (In the top right corner).

The lollipops card is available for sale in my on-line store.

MadAboutYarn created this treasury with the theme Peace. It featured my peace card pack (In the middle of the top row.) This item can be found for sale here in my etsy shop. I have a number of items with the peace sign. (For an explanation of Etsy treasuries, click here )

Etsy treasuries

I wanted to post two wonderful Etsy treasuries that I was in earlier this month. Both treasuries have expired by now, but I was so happy to be in them.

The first treasury featured my cookie card.

This treasury was created by

This "batik boutique" treasury was created by hollyjollyshop.

Batik is a special kind of fabric that uses wax in the dying process to create a beautiful effect.

She featured my peace sign framed photograph.

My photograph is in an Etsy Treasury!

My black and white photograph of the covered bridge in Cedarburg Wisconsin was featured in this treasury on Etsy today.

A Treasury on Etsy is a mini exhibit or selection of 12 different items from different artists that is put together by a fellow Etsian - the "curator". Anyone with an Etsy account can be a curator. The curator chooses the theme of their treasury, for example colors, animal, symbol, flowers, seasons. They title the treasury, and then select the objects. I believe the objects have to come from 12 different artists.

Many of these guest curators have a fabulous eye for selecting items that go together for their chosen theme. One thing I really love about this black and white treasury is that it makes me very aware of textures. I always feel black and white photography reveals emotions in photograph. In this treasury, I saw how much texture the black and white reveals.

I am always honored to find out one of my artworks is in a treasury. When I saw that I was in this treasury, I decided that I would figure out how to add this to my blog. Treasuries expire, but the screen shot of them doesn't. Thank You to bstudio, the curator who included my covered bridge photograph in her treasury.

Goals for March

One of the products in my shop.

Well, I have now had an Etsy shop for 2 months, and my son Anthony commented, Mom you sure do spend a lot of time on the internet now.

Since I have a shop, I have to check for sales everyday. (OK, sometimes I check more often.) It is always fun to see a sale. My daughter gets almost as excited as me.

I have been trying to add products to my store. An Etsy (Etsian) expert suggested I list an item everyday, so starting around Feb 15, 2009, I had made that my goal. I missed a day or 2 in Feb, but now for March I am making it a goal to add an item a day, at least 90% of the time. (This is an example of a measurable goal :)

I found Etsy treasuries, places where Etsy users can create or "curate" "exhibits" or groups of items from whatever artists they want to. I have already been "Featured" in two treasuries, created by people I didn't know but who found and liked my products.

And I found Etsy chat rooms, where I have spent a little bit too much time. ;) There you get to see a variety of products produced by the 20 or so people in the room, and "listen" to their type written conversations going on all at once. I'm still learning the ropes of the chat rooms, but it is a fun way to burn up time. (OPPS!)

Another goal I have decided on is at least two blog entries a month, for the rest of 2009. This blog entry is probably a little lame, but I hope future ones will be more inspirational. I think it is good for me to write down my goals, it seems to make me try harder to accomplish them.

Good Bye for now!
