Mosaic Easter Egg

Longer days, later sunsets, and warmer temperatures whisper to me that spring and Easter will soon be here, even though snow and ice cover my yard.  These signals of spring prompted me to share an Easter Egg Mosaic wall hanging I made a couple of years ago.

Mosaic Egg by Jeanne Selep

This project gave me the excuse to unapologetically use a favorite color combination... pinks and greens, and whites and ivory.  The decorated egg design allowed me to use a variety of vintage floral china pieces to form quick stripes.

I used an egg shaped wood "welcome spring" sign purchased at a resale shop for the backing of the mosaic.  Then I selected eight or nine different floral plates and made a striped the Easter egg.  Simple and easy.

A "side goal" was to use a plate that had 12 two-toned pink roses framed by pastel greenery on the rim.  This project allowed me to repurpose a damaged plate, as well as celebrate other lovely floral borders.

A much earlier project, my 3D Mosaic egg, was inspired by an Easter Egg display in New York City (post here).  This 3D project has lots of flaws.  I include it here because it was a beginner attempt that I actually finished, and learned a lot from.

The 3D egg above is large - 11 inches (28cm) from top to bottom, about 8 inches (20 cm) wide, which makes it difficult for me to work into a spring vignette.

The flat egg below has dimensions of 15in (38 cm) top to bottom and is 10in (25 cm) wide.

[ BTW, I'm showing some of these pieces on a vintage tablecloth. ]

Thank you for visiting!  Apparently, I tipped into the milestone of having 1,000,000 views on my blog (over 18 years, but still!)  I don't know how accurate that number is, and I think the counter started on 2011 but nevertheless it's a fun number for me to see!

I made the popular posts column (which you can only see on a PC, not a phone) show the all-time most popular posts.  Maybe I should make a post on just the top posts?

In either case...

Have a fantastic Easter
and enjoy your spring!

Enjoy the start of Autumn...]
