Image 1: Green Stained Glass Maple Leaf |
I have had a fascination and love of leaves spanning decades. I collect and photograph leaves, scan them, print them, seek out the prettiest ones, and effectively play with them, especially in the fall. These stained glass maple leaves I made continue that "love".
Image 2: Stained Glass Maple Leaves |
I intended both
of these leaves to be autumn leaves. The green one is
just starting to turn colors, and the red, orange and yellow leaf is
in it's full glory. I prop them up in a window and enjoy the way changing light illuminates them.

I
worked with stained glass years ago, before my children were born,
before children and space limitations and safety concerns influenced me
to
purse other hobbies. Returning
to stained glass wasn't something I planned on doing, but with free
time during the pandemic I created these leaves.

My leaves are rough versions based on leaves created by my artist friend Bridget. During pandemic "studio time" with Bridget, I worked on stained glass for the first time in decades, using her tools and equipment, and glass. I worked significantly with a grinder (!), newer cutters and copper foil.
I guess by returning to stained glass I am turning over a new leaf... (snicker) My execution and puns could be improved, but I like my leafing out results. Enjoy!
