Kaleidoscope Part 2 - Sumac in fall

Sumac plants are one of my favorite shrubs.  In fall, the leaves change to beautiful colors glowing like jewels against the green background.

I used the photo above to make the kaleidoscope images below.
The photo above can be saved as a free desktop background.  Last week I made Kaleidoscopes with spring photos, (see post here) this week I wanted to use more seasonally appropriate fall images.

The resulting Kaleidoscopes are far removed from the original image.

Even the colors seem to change, from the oranges and reds to pinks.

The next three rectangle images can also be saved and used as free desktop backgrounds.

Since I am also a quilter, the centers of the kaleidoscopes  intrigue me.

The center of Sumac 5 reminds me of a feathered star.

Some of the images have the feel of 1960's psychedelic art.  I hope you enjoyed the results of my latest batch of experiments.  Let me know what you think and which are your favorites.

I love autumn colors and miss them since moving to New Zealand--we mostly have pine trees. These edits are so fun and they do seem to change the colors. I like them!

Fun...I have to climb a steep hill to see sumac, but it may be worth it to get some fall colors♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/koi-pond-lily-pad/

Hello Jeanne...I love the fall colors, just not the snow that follows. I am wondering if we have any sumac in our woods, I am going to take a look. I also enjoy playing with photos, but I am not as good at it as you are..lovely color for this week's Nature Notes... Michelle

Fantastic display -- kind of like watching a fireworks display with colors and shapes simply exploding with color and vibrancy!

Those were really cool. Do you use a certain type of program to create them?
